Holiday travel and quarantine rules

Serious question for those making comments like “every man for himself” and “we just don’t travel.”

What do you see happening in the future? Do you truly believe that if we all just stay home a little longer, it will be “safe” for us to fly to Rhode Island so our toddler can celebrate her great grandma’s birthday once *not on FaceTime?

There’s a balance.

The school isn’t offering remote options or makeup work this year.[/b] We live in a state where most trips are too far to drive so I expect that the week after Thanksgiving and Christmas will be very lightly attended for the lower, unvaccinated grades. They can’t really leave half the class in 1st/2nd grade without instruction and just hope that they’ll catch up on their own, so I assume those post-holiday weeks will be light on learning and a wash for the kids like mine who will show up. Oh well.

Why would anyone follow this? If the schools won’t facilitate their stupid quarantines, why would you voluntarily do this? Just don’t tell people you traveled.

Curious what your school is requiring and how it will impact your plans this year.

I don’t know and I don’t care. We are fully vaccinated and not sheep. It’s none of the schools damn business what my kid or I do outside of the classroom.

And this is why the pandemic rages on ...

Sure.

You’re not very bright if you think we can control a pervasive respiratory virus with a private school quarantine rule.

They don’t care. They prefer virtue over travel or family.

Do your kids talk? Mine do. I’m not going to ask them to lie.

Our family is traveling to us instead, from all over. I’ll take them out to eat and to see the sights. Bring some much needed business to DC. You’re welcome!

We are following school rules which say quarantine after air travel but only if not vaccinated.

Nonjabbed teacher. Traveling overseas and not doing any of these draconian things.

I'm fully in the "this is a stupid rule and the school has no business asking where you travel". They aren't asking about FAR more pertinent things (like parent vaccination) that would actually help reduce any school cases. They aren't even asking, in many cases, if the kids themselves are vaccinated.

It's just stupid and has no effect on spread. Don't expect people to follow stupid rules, particularly after you've abused their trust for 1.5 years.

Because their parents must post picture of their amazing trip on social media for all to see. Duh.

So they rules are pretty much a private school thing?
