Here are my choices:
1) wash it every day and thus dry the crap out of by doing so
2) Don't wash it every day and look like I've been electrocuted days 2-5
3) Blow it out once every 5 days and just give it a brush and go on all other mornings...

I recently discovered THE ANSWER. Fine mist spray bottles! Ulta sells a great one for $12. You mist 2nd or 3rd day curls with water well, re-scrunch. I'm still in process of figuring out which styling or moisture spray makes it even better. Redkin 25 spray is just ok. I don't like BB curl reactivator. Considering trying Aveda texturizing spray plus their spray conditioner. But just water is enough to fix hair mostly.

Tried it. Complicating matters is that my hair is blond. Most products you spray in wind up making it look wet- and thus darker and wetter. I also don’t enjoy how the weather controls my hair styling and that if I rest my head on something for only a few minutes all the curls get separated and frizzy. I don’t like that I can’t wear a hat or can’t deal with wind or rain or draining pasta.

Anyone who thinks natural curls are the effort free solution has clearly never had my hair.

DP but I totally get this, I think we have the same hair except mine is more auburn. But yes, in theory wearing my hair natural is easier, but in reality I just don't like the way it looks except on my wash day. And that's even with the tricks people are listing here. Plus, yes, these tricks are time consuming and means I often still wind up with wet hair for the first couple hours of the day, even with a fine mist spray bottle -- if I want to refresh the curls and cut down the frizz, I need a certain amount of water to reactivate and I have that type of curly hair that take forever to dry.

I'm thinking about buying a new diffuser to see if that will salvage the situation, but I totally agree that this myth of the "effortless curly girl" has got to die. It works for women who have very well defined curls that take moisture well. Those of us with looser or inconsistent curl patterns and highly porous hair have to work really hard at it, and yes, sometimes the idea of a blowout to have smooth, soft, hair I don't even have to think about for the foreseeable future sounds SO GOOD.

Anyway, following this thread closely because I'm definitely thinking of taking a break from curly girl method after summer ends.

The dyson I use the dryer, then paddle brush, then large barreled round brush for a first day blow out. The curling barrels on dry hair for second and third day styling. Use at least 5 seconds of cool air before releasing the curl to set it

How long would you say it takes?

30 minutes? You want it bone dry or the curls will frizz back in. But the next day(s) touch up is like 5 minutes.
