| 12-yr-old just made it through year & a half of pandemic life ... kudos to him on connecting with friends & finding a topic to chat about. No race/timetable on maturity (not that superheroes are immature)...I've loved reading all of these lists and glad that all of these kids can be loved for who they are at this moment. |

This is the between times of developmental progress… the daily range of topics is from deez nuts jokes to matchbox cars and superheroes. It’s confounding to adults but developmentally appropriate.
Don’t try to manage your kids interests and call too much attention to “what your friends are doing.” The world will give enough feedback that he will drop these younger interests in due course. That kind of feedback is the world’s job to give… not the parents. |
