McLean-Area High Schools

McLean native here, who grew up going to parochial up to grade 8, then LHS, then a natl univ. NOT in Virginia:

What kills me is, every parent who is angling for their child to get into a wonderful h.s., is almost certainly doing it to.. . .get their child into a state college or univ. Okay.. . . . .

This could also mean the administration doesn't let kids get away with as much at those schools and reports more incidents. Those statistics reward the schools that sweep things under the rug.

If we're going to assume that, then why would we believe that the numbers from other schools aren't underestimates as well?

They might or might not be. The point is that there's no guarantee of consistency in reporting.

By the way, it looks like Marshall has significantly more incidents of disruptive and disorderly behavior than Madison or McLean.

It is actually pretty common for more wealthy schools to have more drug violations. Kids in wealthy families are more likely to have access to money, and less likely for their parents to keep strict tabs on where it's going.

And to complete the thought it is actually pretty common for schools with more low-income and ESOL kids to have more fights. Kids from families with less structure are more likely to act out and engage in disruptive behavior.

Most realtors are old and mclean / langley have been top tier for a while. Marshall has really excelled in to the top tier in the last 5-10 years due to the large amounts of wealth as seen by the new (built in 90s and now) expensive homes being fed into the school pyramid.

10:48 here - thanks to most of you for the insight. I think we're going to focus on homes in the McLean High area for now, but it's good to know that if we find something we like in the Marshall area that should be fine as well.
