Virginia ODP

The program is not what it was a decade ago and virtually none of the “elite” players are participating.

Several of the recent boys who aged out of ODP last year have landed D1 to include the almighty VT!

Sometimes the day in and day out of a regular team practice every single week of the school year starts to get stale. Just gives you a different environment, different players and something to experience

ODP used to be the go to thing. Then DA came around and ruined that. ODP hasn’t really recovered but it’s not a terrible program. District level can be pretty easy but state and regional events can be fun with some good competition. Just another way for players to play against different competition. When it comes to cost and fees take it up with VYSA, they set it up.

Also would have been nice to see a coach take a single note about the players during the entire tryout.

Does this have to do with ODP or more related to the guidance the boys received from their parents in all aspects of their lives.

Your own experience, I suppose. My experience is that at least one or two coaches do have a clipboard taking notes or iPad, etc.

Guess my kid didn’t make the call back list. Traffic was horrible and we didn’t make it until we saw kids walking out. Next..

Part of making a team, includes being able to make tryouts/practices - commitment counts.
