We have tons of talented kids. Fun fact - most are smaller technical kids with high work rates.

But the system of favorites and nepotism continues..... they need true recruiters, not moms.

And not the head of clubs, who are also “scouts”, pushing their kids so they can use it as propaganda to make more money

100% fact

We are no longer a team. They are a group on individual players with their own personal agenda. Time to learn a lesson

Carli Lloyd is on our roster, that says enough. If she’s considered one of the best 18 players in the country we are in serious trouble.

One of the biggest changes in the past few years has been in Europe. The best women players use to come over here and play college. Now the best players stay in Europe and are in the club system.
Playing D1 soccer is not the same as playing in a club system. College limits practice time and is at most 1/2 a year of training.

There is not one player on the USWNT right now that I would consider to be the best in the world at their given position.

I wouldn’t pick a single one

It was a soulless but mercenary performance. A draw meant that both teams advanced.

When was the last time the USWNT played for a tie?

They didn’t play for a tie. They just couldn’t win. And they won’t medal. This will be the end of their legacy and an of an era. They are not a team anymore. They’ve all moved on mentally.

I suspect that cancer has taken over the locker room.

So akin to Brazil on the men’s side? Used to be the world beater. Now struggles against Euro teams. Crushed in WC semis in 2014. Lost in WC quarters in 2018. We’ll see in 2022.

Oh dear. I guess the women’s national team should just go home then.

And - if they win another gold? You will be saying what?

(You realize the Netherlands national team has played 8 games since the end of the 2019 WC, and only 1 of those was against a decently competitive team (Brazil 3-3 tie in pool play).

Brazil is more akin to USA basketball. They always have plenty of attacking talent - as much or more than anyone else - its just a matter if they have defenders/anyone willing to defend and and if the team will buy into a team concept. Brazil wasn’t dominant in the late 70s/80s either.

I guess you do not realize the Netherlands players play at big European clubs. They have the captain of Barca and Lyon both thought of as the best midfielders in the women’s game on the top women’s clubs teams. Their goalie is really good also. The women’s club teams are much better vs any of the women’s national teams. You may think it is an easy win but it will be a very tough game.

The US last 8 games are as follows. Two teams in the top 10 - results against top 10 3-0, 0-0. Interesting that the US chose not to play any team in the top 25.

Australia -9
New Zealand-22
Sweden-5
Mexico-28
Mexico-28
Nigeria-38
Jamaica-51
Portugal-30
