There were any women in the room when I got mine done.

Not a far drive from NOVA - procedure center in Greenbelt. Dr. Sachdev is great!

This seems like a rule violation.

Most people want to have the most experienced person when they know they won't be alert.

I’m a doctor and I disagree with this. There have been cases of patients being violated while unconscious. Just recently in CA a surgeon was fired due to this type of behavior:

The Pp who was wondering why the gender mattered was probably a troll. To any sane person it makes complete sense to want the same gender doctor as they are.

I really liked Dr. Potru.

I had to have a manual check before my colonoscopy, but it was because I had symptoms and I am too young for a regular screening. I had a male gi but a female nurse was in the room.

I only saw the GI the day of my colonoscopy before the colonoscopy. He talked to my DH about the findings while I was still out.

Just stop.

First, there are studies that show that women receive better care even for things like surgery when their doctors are female.

Second, OP can have a preference if she wants. Maybe it's religion. Maybe it's a history of sexual assault. Maybe she just doesn't want a man touching her that intimately. So just stop.

I've never had one - does the doctor not meet with you to discuss the results of the procedure? Do you just get it done and then go home? What if they find something concerning?

This is my question too. And is there ever any manual screening that is done prior to the appointment? Do you discuss any bathroom issues or anything first?

Yes, you must see the doctor first before colonoscopy. Then you will talk to her after the procedure. She will discuss how it went. Any polyps will be sent out to pathology.
