Most people want to have the most experienced person when they know they won't be alert.

I've never had one - does the doctor not meet with you to discuss the results of the procedure? Do you just get it done and then go home? What if they find something concerning?

This is my question too. And is there ever any manual screening that is done prior to the appointment? Do you discuss any bathroom issues or anything first?

There is nothing other than conversation before or after a colonoscopy, there is no exam. This can be virtual or in person, but it is just conversation.

I definitely had a post colonoscopy conversation with Dr Trihn. When she told me I had a mass too big to be removed and that her office would set up an appointment with a colorectal surgeon for that week and recommend an oncologist.

Maybe OP doesn’t want a man dr looking at her ass. It doesn’t matter if she’s out cold.

That’s what I said...conversation.

There are many reasons why someone would want to undergo an exam by someone of the same sex. You are either very stupid, or you’re a troll. Or possibly both.

I didn't ask for your opinion. I'm asking for a recommendation.

OK, but you did not answer her question.

Maybe OP is an Orthodox Jew or a Muslim and doesn’t want to be touched by an unrelated man period.

Maybe OP is a dude and only wants women sticking things up his butt?

So why are you arguing? Weird.

I just had one done by Anita Wolke in Reston, like many females, I prefer female physicians, not that I don’t respect male physicians but given the choice I feel less vulnerable with a woman. She took about a month to get one scheduled. She is lovely as everyone says / didn’t chat a lot but very warm and kind in our brief pre-procedure interaction. The male anesthesiologist was very kind too for what it’s worth but I would return to Dr Wolke for my next colonoscopy bc she has that calming safe vibe many of us look for in stressful situations.

One thing to remember with a colonoscopy is that the vast majority are screening colonoscopies and the vast majority of those screening colonoscopies find no incidence of cancer. So if you are having symptoms you need to make that clear when scheduling the appointment and when talking to the doctor.

You have the right to pick your doctor.
But be aware there will be at least a nurse and anesthetist in the procedure room. They can be male or female, depending on who's working, what procedure room you are in, etc.
