I'm a different poster, but I think an answer the question would be good. Are you a contributor? Is it a foundational part of your identity? Just seems very weird to have this very aggressive and defensive response to people mocking a local advocacy website. Why do you feel the need to defend a website? |
I didn't post this original comment, but I don't consider it either very aggressive or defensive. It's seriously weird how some posters on DCUM are obsessed with a local advocacy website, that's all. |
So your need to defend GGW is because you feel the need to counter act the people mocking it because they are obsessed? I'm not following. |
|
Who has been defending GGW?
Pointing out that some people are obsessed with hating on GGW =/= defending GGW. It's just pointing out that some people are obsessed with hating on GGW. Now there seems to be an obsession with denying an obsession with hating on GGW, or something like that. It's absurd. |
+1,000,000. |
Not exactly a "local advocacy website" but rather a group funded by large development interests, similar to Ward 3 Vision and various funded "astroturf" (i.e. faux grass roots) front groups. |
...and the obsession continues... |
Isn't GGW the website where 30-something "Urbanists" blog from their mother's basement about how no one drives cars anymore and everyone will take public transit? Right. |
Let's be real here. In this very thread, people that mocked GGW were immediately met with multiple messages with a clear message that to mock GGW will result in a barrage of insults. No one has yet to explain why. Why is it necessary to come to the defense of a website by insulting people who mocked it? Is someone going to answer this question? I am going to keep asking it until someone does. |
What insults, specifically, are you referring to? Could you point to some specific posts? |
+1 Also, since lots of people are still teleworking, traffic is better, so people who otherwise took Metro are driving because the trip is faster and more pleasant. And at least some fed buildings that used to limit who could park in the garage are allowing anyone to park now, which also makes driving more attractive. I think as people start returning to the office in greater numbers, metro ridership will go up, especially as things like free parking and lower traffic start to go away. |
How about this one? As an example it is both insulting ("pathetic") and defensive ("circleherk"). Will you answer the question now?

An example of GGW blogging from their mother's basement based on lived experience. |
