Do your pools post this for all to see at the pool or something? |
| If you want your kid to swim at A meets and your kid isn't consistently in the top three go to a smaller pool where they don't have enough kids to swim at all the A meets and your child will automatically get to swim. |
Our team posts the ladder on their website. |
Ours used to physically post it at the pool back in the day but now I think they just email it to the whole team once a week. |
True. We have some age groups that have events with open lanes. We seed swimmers up age groups to fill relays. The team we swam against today couldn't field all of their relays. |
Download the SwimTopia app - the times from time trials and B meets are posted there. You can put together the ladder yourself that way. A meets results aren’t posted there though (NVSL) - that is a wrinkle. But you can get a decent idea from SwimTopia. |
Thanks for the great explanation! -MCSL parent (where it’s totally coach’s discretion, but our team is small and usually can’t fill relays at the end of the meet anyway) |
Depends on if your team uses it. I’ve also found if your kid isn’t in a meet, you can’t see results. For example, my kids didn’t swim B meet this week, I can’t see any results. We had A meet today, only our team’s results are visible to me. |
| Our team uses the OnDeck app (MCSL) and you can see all the swimmers times. |
This is the SwimTopia user - try clicking at the bottom of a screen - events. Then click to see other event times. We haven’t skipped a meet (not that there has been more than two) but this way I can see all the times. Also - I pay the 2.99 fee to use it. I’m not sure what that gets me (I had hoped for historical times from a different league but no such luck). |
| Former NVSL team rep. It's like 95% by the ladder. The other 5% falls on kids who don't show up for practice, who may get subbbed out for a kid who shows up every day. |
Thanks! That worked for the meet my kids didn’t attend! I’m still only seeing results for our team, so maybe the other team has to be SwimTopia users too or I Have to pay? |
Ours is 100% the ladder which I think is better! |
| +1 we have swimmers who don’t do practice but do early morning NCAP and they still do A meets. |
Our coach reserves the right to sub these players out for swimmers who actually do summer swim team. I am fine with that, and I think most other parents on our team feel the same way. It doesn't happen at every meet but this gives a chance for the swimmers who work hard and improve but don't do year-round swim to have that A meet experience. |
