My rage is well-controlled, thanks. It's laser focused on proselytizing POSs. |
The thing is, that your understanding of god is simply your understanding. Not everyone shares it and, despite some of the views of fundamentalist Christians who come here, not everyone has to. If there is a god, how could you actually understand how his/her mind works? You're going by your understanding, which is different from other people's understanding. You're entitled to think the way you do, but not entitled to force or expect others to share your views. People discuss their different views here. There may be a right way to view God in particular religious denominations, but not here. By the way, your first sentence "my understanding is that his [God's] consciousness is so far above ours that we can’t really ask those questions" seems to me to be a convenient way of cutting off any dissension about God's existence. It sounds like something said in Sunday school to cut off curious children. |
How did you get from calling someone an a-hole to homophobia?
Sorry, it's 2021 and people of all sorts can be a-holes. (and enjoy anal sex) |
Whoever said that all atheists are enlightened and forward thinking and don't enjoy an occasional Uranus joke? The only thing that you can say for sure about atheists is that they do not believe in a deity. |
I mean...it was low hanging fruit on a thread about planets...
|
|
There are several reasons why God created other planets and galaxies
1) To display God's handiwork to his creation, beings which he created with the ability to admire beauty and perfection. Such ability did not evolve nor is it the result of chance but of purposeful design. Only a fool observes the majestic universe and concludes, "There ain't no God." The heavens declare the glory of God, the dome of the sky speaks the work of his hands. Every day it utters speech, every night it reveals knowledge. Without speech, without a word, without their voices being heard, ---Complete Jewish bible The stars utter no speech yet their glory is understood. It is self-evident that it was created. 2) For humans to inhabit once the Earth reached the point where it cannot sustain any more people. The Earth can sustain billions of people, perhaps even a trillion or more with technological abilities to build structures higher than the Himalayas and deep into the Earth's crust close to the mantle, The mantle could heat every home on Earth given the right technology to conduct that heat. But the Earth will only hold so many people. The universe has untold numbers of planets able to hold trillions upon trillions of people all giving God praise and glory for his wonderful creation and love towards us for which all of this was created. 3) A place for the righteous to rule After Jesus returns and brings his reward, crowns will be given to the righteous. A crown is a symbol of governing authority. Some of the righteous will rule a kingdom on Earth, some will rule a kingdom on another planet or will have authority to delegate authority to other rulers on other planets as humans expand into the galaxy. Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. --1 Corinthians 2:9 |
Please read what you typed. You typed: "If I understand then I can't understand". Stop. |
Hilarious! so much for space exploration. I doubt even most religious people believe this antiquated stuff. |
To inhabit other planets you have to conduct space exploration first. God isn't going to give a map of the universe and give all the answers to everything; no, God is going to allow the wonders of discovery to find habitable planets and discover the technological means to colonize them. This will be more readily achieved with sin removed which causes all of humanity to be little more than a scrambling pile of rats each clawing over each other and dragging down others preventing them from climbing out of the cesspool. And just because something is old does not mean it is not true. "1 + 1 = 2". This antiquated equation was true 5,000 years ago and is true today and will be true 5,000 years into the future. "God exists and created the universe as stated in the book of Genesis" is also true. |
Prove it. |
| To show his glory. |
Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you. --Matthew 7:6 There is ample scholarship on the web to be read if one is seriously seeking the truth of what the bible says. And there is nothing I can say that can "prove" to you that "In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth." It is self-evident that it is so. Jesus quoted the scriptures, such as Jonah and Genesis, affirming their truth. And the rich man said, Nay, father Abraham: but if one went unto them from the dead, they will repent. Jesus said unto him, If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one rose from the dead. --Luke 16:30 Were Jesus to appear and do and say what he did about 2,000 years ago, even if his miracles were caught on video, there would be those who say it's fake, or that Jesus works through the power of Satan, just as those wicked Jews said who put him to death for exposing their crooked, Babylonish religious traditions when their very own Torah clearly laid out the time of his appearing. You are of the same mind: even if one came back from the dead, if you will not hear Moses and the prophets, nor Jesus, you will not be persuaded nor will you repent even if your great great granny rose from the grave and appeared before you like Jacob Marley imploring you to believe and repent. |
Thanks Pat |
As stated above: "God isn't going to give a map of the universe and give all the answers to everything; no, God is going to allow the wonders of discovery to find habitable planets and discover the technological means to colonize them." Wow -- pp knows the mind of God! What an insult to those nice church ladies who help the poor and do other good works. And they would be the type to forgive pp's hubris and also not to be put off by people who didn't share their beliefs. There are good christians out there, pp just isn't one of them. |
