$8 is fairly good for a 13yo who has the child's parent in the house. And she can use this for experience. |
She isn’t a mother’s helper if the mother isn’t home. She’s a babysitter. And she’s your neighbor’s child so do not go cheap.
$10 to $15. No question. |
Tell you daughter to set her rate at $10 an hour. Your daughter needs to know her worth even starting out. As above poster put it, playing with a 5 yr old is work and not a cushy job. |
I think a lot of you are forgetting it's easier (and more fun) for a 13 year old to play with/watch a 5 year old than it is for a 40 year old woman who's not only decades away from liking to play the way a 5 year old does, but also has a full time job and a household to run which takes a lot of energy. Many of these responses remind me of that thread about the middle aged lady who thought one box of spaghetti and a salad was enough to feed her family of six including two teenage boys because she was thinking of it from the perspective of how much she would eat, LOL. OP, $10/hr is a very fair and good rate for this. |
Bull. $15/hr |
You’re both delusional. $10/hour is how much a teen babysitter earns when I’m out of the house. A mother’s helper earns less than that. |
The minimum wage for adults working in VA is only $9.50. |
