No, unaffiliated ECNL-R clubs will never make it into ECNL. ECNL is a closed league to club membership. There is no way for a club to play their way into ECNL. ECNL-R clubs/teams can earn the opportunity to play in one of the lower ECNL showcase brackets if they win their respective division but other than that they will not get into ECNL without a merger of sorts.[/quote]

ECNL management has publicly discussed the possibility of relegating under performing ECNL clubs and promoting top performing ECNL-R clubs. Will it ever actually happen? Who knows.

Now that ECNL-R will include second teams from at least some local ECNL clubs it will be a good measure of how clubs stack up. I suspect the other VA ECNL teams will also place their second teams in ECNL-R in a year.

Personally would love to see FCV get ECNL and put Loudoun top teams in ECNL-R but don't think ECNL management will ever let FCV in.

Loudoun will not be relegated. As a club in totality it is simply mediocre in ECNL. The boys side, which ECNL wants to grow, is doing fine, not spectacular but fine. BRYC on the other hand, has one winning team in ECNL boys and girls combined.

If any club gets relegated it would be BRYC but that doesn't mean GFR gets promoted as a club. I doubt ECNL honestly believes NOVA could replace a dismal BRYC club with anything better locally. They would likely find another club in NC or SC to fill the void. NOVA is saturated and that saturation is why BRYC is so bad. Simply put, there are not enough players to go around. Kick BRYC out, let their top players migrate to McLean, Arlington and strengthen their teams. Loudoun would benefit as well. [/quote]

ECNL knows that FCV deserves a spot. They need to keep Loudoun to prevent that from happening.

Can someone explain how they rank their teams on the boys side? What's the difference between VPSL, elite, Napoli, Lazio, Verona?

U12 and younger: Napoli, Lazio, Verona, Juventus (if 4th team)

U13 and older: Elite, Napoli, Lazio, Verona

I would think Lazio should be their bottom team.
