How do you hang wet swim suits and towels?

Towels go straight into the laundry. We have an enormous amount of towels for swimming since one of my kids swims summer swim team and swam year-round up until last year. Suits never ever go in the laundry. They are always hand washed and hung outside in the backyard to dry (colder months I put them in the garage to dry). I have a portable drying rack.

Draped over our various outdoor chairs to dry. My kids are in the pool once a day once it opens and 2-4 times day during camp depending on if they have lessons that week or if we stay after camp to play in the pool. Camp has two swim periods a day.

I don't notice any chlorine smell and everything gets dry without a problem. The suits are not dripping because I wrap them in the towel for the ride home, which soaks up some of the water. I can't imagine washing suits and towels every day. That seems so wasteful.

To the PP who washes their kid's suit every day -- if it's a Speedo type suit that is not a good idea. Those are supposed to be hand washed and rinsed in cold water only. They've literally been dipped in chlorine; they don't need to be cleaned with soap. Detergent and agitation causes the fabric to wear out so much faster.

We have Speedo, arena and a few other brands. No big deal to wash and line dry. They go in a mesh bag. We have a bunch so we never run out.

Doesn’t matter. Suits are never supposed to be washed in a washing machine.

To 6:08. NP. The label says no machine wash. But I also wash our many practice suits in a mesh bag and hang to dry, and the suits are always fine. Thanks for your concern but it actually works out for some of us.

... forgot to address the OPs question, for drying we have a foldable rack in the laundry room, which stays unfolded all the time.

I'm happy these things aren't in their room at on the floor, but I'd like a better system. My kids are little, so I'm in training mode with them so that they can do it independently as they age. Does anyone have hooks that they can hang on the tub wall? I don't want to hang hooks on the wall because the suits will drip onto the floor. I don't wash their swim towels every day, either, so I need more hooks in the bathroom for those towels, plus their bath towels. I have 3 kids. What is your system?

Kids have molluscum (almost gone, thank goodness!!!), but until it's clear, I wash all towels, clothing and bedding after 1 use.

We have a rack out by the pool where the kids hang their suits and towels to dry if I'm not throwing them immediately into the laundry. I also have laundry racks inside that I use for delicates, and they can be set up outside if there are more than three pool towels.

They come in the front door and then go to the bathroom. We don't ahve a basement, and the laundry is in the garage.

Set up a laundry rack or two in the garage.

RE: washing suits

I wash all clothing on cold, with as little detergent as possible. About half of the clothing gets dried on low heat, the rest gets hung. IME, washing suits on cold, in a mesh bag, then hanging makes them last, and they don't smell of chlorine, stiffen up or smell musty.

Oh, and the kids swim year-round, sometimes multiple times per day.

Not that poster but my kid does team and I just wash them in a bag each time. They are fine.

Yes, I don't treat my kids' team suits with kid gloves. They are fine. The tech suit, yes, but not the practice ones.

I have been doing it for 17 years. Not a problem.
