Where are your parents? If you’re heading north to NJ or NY you should be okay. Going south would be trickier.

I’m heading upstate NY, currently 1/4 tank. Would you proceed today for a non-essential trip?

Looking at the Gas Buddy app, there are lots of stations around Falls Church that are showing no gas, but when I look at Bethesda, I don't see the no gas logos as frequently. Where are you starting from and how far can 1/4 tank get you?

No problem this morning at the Shell station at Rt. 123 and Gosnell.

Seeing shortage and lines in Arlington this morning. Is this all panic or real? I was just getting gas because I was below a quarter tank (haven’t gotten gas in weeks but had several errands this week which consumed my reserve)

People aren't hoarding. Filling up isn't hoarding

Actually it is - if you otherwise wouldn't fill up for another few days or a week. Also people are bringing freaking gas cans to store additional gas in their trunk (this was in Tysons today!!!)

Panic-fueled hoarding. Be smarter.

Except that once you fill up, you are done. It's not like say, toilet paper where people could buy some every single time they saw it at the store, and just stack it up in their house. Once your tank is full, you are done. Or you are using enough gas to justify needing it.

We had both cars around 1/4 full. I filled up both. No issues and I won't need more (or be able to buy more) for awhile.

Anyone been to the Costco in Sterling for gas? It's my usual errands stop but I don't see it listed on gas buddy. I'd skip the trip this time if they're out of gas.

Except those same people will be back when they're a 3/4 tank, waiting in line with everyone else.

Gas buddy shows gas at every Exxon I checked — but regular only, no premium.
