Agreed. I don’t like the FCV coaches/directors but they do a much better job with connecting to YNT and colleges for their top girls talent than most clubs in NOVA. I think only McLean girls comes close and that’s mainly due to NM and CW. It is not what you know ... but who you know. CZ and BP do get this mantra and exploit it well. |
| Isn’t the USWNT local scout’s child at FCV? |
No. Not jealousy. But it is good to understand how this works. It is one thing to know a spot will go to a connected player but 7 spots? That really undermines the legitimacy of the operation and just turns even more people off to US soccer and their shenanigans. Yes ...it's what it is but it is helpful to undestand what " it actually is. And good luck to all the players, this has nothing to do with them really. |

7 players from one club and 5 from several others can only mean one of two things:
1. The areas/regions where the camp is held is only selecting from a few clubs in that proximity. For example - the VDA girls went to the Southern version of this ID camp not the NJ version 2. It's a farce. Someone just used the email recommendations from coaches (as usual) and never actually scouted anyone. Easiest job ever. |
D1 schools yes. YNT not at all. Too much time away from school for nothing. Hardly any of these girls make to the show. |
Even you can read the rosters. |
| Of course there are connected people and clubs that get players in. Good players...not saying they are not bringing good players. But this looks bad....they went too far |
Of course they don't. The women's team is almost exclusively made up of professional players with maybe one or two exceptions. If you get the chance to go to any of these type of ID events it is interesting. Most if the players are very strong (there are exceptions that are likely there for other reasons) but there will be a couple of freakish stand outs that make it look easy. It is great to watch these players because it really puts talent in perspective. And after you see that, you realize even that one of those dominant players will have a tough time going pro should they even want to. IMO, these events are honors given out to strong players but you must be at a connected club with very very few exceptions. It rarely goes any further for most of these players |
| Aunt Becky |
What does this mean and why is it posted 3 times on this subject? Just being an a$$? |
Funny, I literally just figured this out yesterday -- I think. Aunt Becky was the character played by Lori Loughlin on Full House. She went to jail in the college admissions scandal last year.... Thinking that's what they reference is? |
|
For goodness sake,
please say the camp ain't fake, the roster you will make, if your last name is Drake. |
YES!!!!!!!! Is it really that hard to get players into these sessions when the person who makes the decision on who goes to the session is driving carpool at your club? |
|
Nepotism Reigns!
Puppies leave stains! Carpool makes the camp, but D1 interest wanes. |
It’s meant to suggest that there are parents out there that will use influence to obtain prestigious positions for their children even if they lack merit for it. It happens everyday in every aspect of life. Becoming friends with the shot callers is the easiest method. Some call is networking…to each their own. Not my thing |
