What beauty mistakes do women over 40 commonly make?

So over this look. Everyone from suburban kindergartners to suburban housewives have this horrid color type.

What’s wrong with this?

It makes your skin look monotone, older, and accentuates wrinkles and pores. Whether you use Armani or cover girl, doesn’t matter. Up close in person it doesn’t look natural or flattering but especially on older skin

NP. I don’t know this. What should we do then?

NP. Just use concealer where you need it

That makes most people look spotted.

Not realizing it's time to switch to a tint moisturizer instead of a full foundation that adds lines to your face.

Not wearing a summer hat to keep the sun from aging your face then sitting in the sun for hours. Well, it's your face not mine...

Use sparingly. If you have several areas you want to cover then pick your poison, show your discoloration/blemishes or wear a full face of makeup.

Ideal is nothing but a tiny bit of sheer illuminator to dark inside corners of eyes and a dusting of a very fine translucent powder to t-zone, add in a cream cheek stain to cheek apples and lips and a coat of non-clumpy mascara.

Wearing dumpy clothes. Not shaving armpits. Having string hair that’s half gray/half-colored. Wearing keens. This all screams, “I’ve given up!”

Black eyeliner - go softer, brown, it looks better

Go to Italy (yes — virtually if need be) and look at middle-aged and older women. Copy their style and you will avoid common pitfalls.

Navy and gray are also good.

This looks like an updated Kate Gosselin. Not attractive.

Mine are very general and are also true for women in their 20s.

-hair too old (Karen cut) or too youthful (long/beach/goofy highlights) or too dated (bangs/spiral perm)- should match face

-teeth not addressed (yellow teeth or old caps)

-too much foundation (one brown/orange tone) or contouring (stripey clown/tiger look) or iridescent eye makeup (highlights uneven skin or wrinkles/lines)

-too heavy or too skinny is aging

-jumping on clothing trends- especially too many at a time

-the nails. Oh, the nails. If you are over 40 and your 'thing' is crazy long nails or with designs/nutty colours- it was weird when you were young, but it is definitely now aging.

Can anyone recommend a fragrant free tint moisturizer?

Die, shrink or hide. That’s the message.
