Tips on “clean poops” without so much wiping...

Inulin. It is better than metamucil because it completely dissolves with no taste, feel, color or smell. It is both a prebiotic as well as fiber.

Squatty Potty.

Hand held shower attachment to your toilet if you don't want the Toto Bidet Seat. Pat dry with toilet paper if you want.

This is a great example of people not reading the OP before posting useless nonesense. THIS is what OP wrote: "Now things are way too soft and I am spending entirely too much time wiping and then going back for detail work with flushable wipes."

Why would you suggest things to loosen up and soften the stool when OP is complaining that it's already TOO soft?! Taking Metamucil would turn this mushy poop into watery poop, which I don't think is the goal.

It’s your diet. I would stop the probiotic and stop the gluten. I have hasimotos and struggled for years with this issue along with bladder issues (before being diagnosed with Hashis). Was told I don’t have celiac but should avoid gluten due to inflammation and aggravating the Hashimotos. Sure enough, this issue resolved almost immediately. Now if I accidentally ingest gluten, I have this issue crop up. Do you ever wipe your self raw and you are clean and then wipe later and you are not? That’s leakage. That comes from soft poop, inadequate anus muscles and bad diet.

No, that’s not how Metamucil works. Pour it in a glass of any liquid, leave it, and you’ll see this quite readily.

Metamucil is used to counter constipation. In other words, it makes the poop softer. This OP already has soft poop, which causes her to have trouble removing the soft poop. She's asking for help with cleaning off soft poop from her body because soft poop can necessitate a lot of wiping. She's not asking for help with making her poop softer, which is what Metamucil would do. If any product made sense here, it might be Imodium or something else that would harden the poop.

Metamucil is not a stool softener. It’s a fiber product that bulks stool, and makes it emerge more cleanly and fully formed. You’re mistaken here.

Here are my tips for dealing with soft poop.

Spread your butt cheeks on the seat before you eliminate in order to minimize the soft poop touching any more skin than necessary.

Use a squatty potty stool to hold up your feet, which will help you have the butt cheeks sufficiently spread. It will also position the anus into the lowest point relative to the rest of you, which somehow makes the poop come out all at once, quickly, and with less mess.

When wiping, try to both go deep on your first pass, and grab instead of swiping. You don't want to spread stuff on subsequent passes. The more you can remove on the first pass, the better.

I have a medical condition that causes soft poop. I own a bidet and try to poop before I leave the house in the morning to maximize cleanliness. It's fantastic.

Here is what their website says. You're saying that treating constipation is the same thing as hardening poop? --

https://www.metamucil.com/en-us/articles/metamucil-benefits/benefits-of-metamucil-fiber-supplement

"BENEFITS OF METAMUCIL:

Helps promote digestive health*

The psyllium fiber in Metamucil helps maintain regularity and can be used to treat occasional constipation, helping you feel lighter and more energetic."

According to WebMD:

"This medication is used to treat constipation. It increases the bulk in your stool, an effect that helps to cause movement of the intestines. It also works by increasing the amount of water in the stool, making the stool softer and easier to pass."

Bulking is not hardening

Not sure how much you can do to change your stool consistency, but you could try just rinsing/cleaning off with water. When I’m home I use a small squeeze bottle, or you can buy an official lota (google it). Then I pat dry and wash my hands afterwards, of course. If I’m out I just make the best of it and clean up later at home. We tried a hose attachment specifically for this purpose but I had too much difficulty aiming it properly, plus it was attached to the cold water hookup so it was a little chilly!

My next door neighbors sewer system backed up due to too many flushable wipes. I totally get their appeal, but flushing them seems like a terrible idea!
