Would any hours she actually came in already be OT? If so, you need to pay double if she comes in, rather than 1.5x. And 1/3-1/2 rate for on call hours is the norm. |
I had a Nanny friend who worked for doctors. When they were on cal they paid her half her hourly rate to be on cal as well. If they needed her they paid whatever they were supposed to. I would offer something similar for Saturday. |
How old are your kids? |
BINGO |
The chances you both will feel bad is unlikely. Five of us got our second shot the same day and had zero side effects. |
You can’t parent feeling unwell? You all should have planned this better. |
What OP is posting about is totally reasonable (assuming she pays a generous standby fee) and those of you crabbing sound ridiculous. I would do the exact same thing in her situation (though luckily we had the foresight to schedule our vaccines a few days apart). Some people have had very bad side effects. Yes, you can parent when sick, but if you don’t have to, why would you? And there’s nothing wrong with planning ahead rather than scrambling at the last minute. |
You pay OT for every hour she is on standby. $100 is a joke. |
Not the pp. Maybe to you, but if the nanny is fine with that amount, great. You're an entitled little sh*t. |
You need a nanny in case you have a mild fever due to your second vaccination? Maybe learn how to parent your children like the rest of us do. |
Agree |
Some people just have mild fevers. I spiked 103, was disoriented and dizzy, and I shouldn’t have been doing a thing. |
+10 (isn’t it ironic that she expected her nanny to work after her shot but wants to take time off herself?) |
If you had her use her paid sick days to recover from the vaccine side effects, give her those days back and offer $250 to stand by.
If she didn’t get paid for those days, apologize, pay her for them now, and pay her $250 to stand by. |
Yes, this is messed up. And her thought was that if the nanny came in and felt sick, the nanny would be able to drive herself home, despite feeling ill, yet two parents together would be too sick to function. SMH. |
