At some point clubs need to do the right thing though. There is no way any club needs more than two teams maybe a rare third team. By opening up so many teams it makes it less of a competitive thing and more of a over priced rec team. The whole idea of travel is to tryout select the top kids and let them compete with other clubs top kids. Its not to make a team for everyone as long as they pay. It really waters down the talent and cheapens the ides of travel soccer. |
| ^ yes and no. The top players are always on the top two teams anyway and what about the players who want to try and work hard to move up. Travel is totally diff than rec so even if you are orange you may be getting a sense of what it takes to take it to the next level. Personally I wouldn’t pay the pricey fees for my kids to be on the aquamarine team BUT that’s just me. But at least it’s an option for some players. |

Wow BSC ECNL 08 lost to FC Frederick 08
|
I agree but we have made the entire tryout and make the team a nothing achievement . Its our cultures way of making sure everyones a winner. Both the parents and players feel a fake accomplishment. We play for club BLAH BLAH BLAH. Not being totally honest not saying its the third team and oh yeah they dont make cuts. When you limit it to 2 teams it keeps it strong and competitive. |
| Nope. In fact a few years ago at a tryout the Bethesda director admitted the only Bethesda professional playing currently in the MLS came from wait for it...Bethesda Orange. |
Bill Hamid?? played 1 season at Bethesda then went to dc united academy. not a Bethesda product. |
Cool story. And today: Bethesda SC Blue 11 (BSC third team) 8 - KPN United Kickers 2 They didn't even make the final. Life comes at you fast. |
| some really weird & lopsided scores for 11v11. Have to think it's because of easter weekend and spring break with players out and teams not with full squads, or call-ups from lower teams / younger age groups |
Give them a break. I talked to some people about this. It's a new team, they were missing some kids and they had random fill ins from younger ages. And the other team apparently never stopped pressing. Are they good, not really, but this just got out of hand with a hodgepodge team and another not letting up when they really should have. However, this wasn't the only one like this though the worst spread I know of. When BSC goes numerous teams deep but then had low enrollment and not that many brackets, some bottom teams were destined to have a tough tournament. |
Blue 11 is the 4th team. |
This was our group. Most the team gone and multiple younger subs. |
At least they showed up to take their butt kicking. Not like some teams. Hi Laurel Lions! |
If thats true then they should be banned from any other tournaments for 2 years and a lifetime ban from Bethesda cup. |
Give it a rest...you have complained in two other posts. We hear you. Your son didn't get to play. Unless you know the whole story, complaining anonymously in a forum like this doesn't look good. If you are a TM, maybe ask what happened that led to the forfeiture. |
OK What happened that led to the forfeiture ? |
