I won't say it was an unpleasant visit but I don't think the cost and the drive were justified. We love to cook, so for what I spent there I could buy a case of good wine, the best dry aged beef, make a risotto in half the time it takes to get there, throw the ball for the dog, and do it all in my comfy clothes and have an equally satisfying meal. Cook, drink, eat, watch a movie with my girls then drink some more wine and then wake up in my own bed. And that's also while saving money

There are few places in the area where you still get dressed up for a "fancy" meal. If that appeals to you, you should try the Inn at Little Washington at least once.
Personally, I like the Ashby Inn in Paris a lot (a little cuter) |
The idea of having someone actually prepare my food for me would be worth really any cost at this point. I’m so sick of cooking. So sick of it. |
| Bumping for any more responses since we are considering it for a milestone birthday celebration. Would also love your other recent special occasion restaurants. |
| We have enjoyed the Inn very much, always delicious food and feels like a special occasion. We have also enjoyed special occasions at Pineapple & Pearls and Jont most recently. |
| We visited last fall and really wouldn't recommend it. There were a series of major service flubs which would've annoyed me if I had been at Olive Garden, none of which could be blamed on Covid, and the food was un-memorable. There are so many other great restaurants in the area, spend your special occasions and $$$ somewhere besides IaLW. Agree with PP, get a room in the city and try Masseria, or Jont, which we were impressed with recently. |
| They lost me when they had those creepy socially distanced mannequins at the tables |
I went there last summer and sat between tables with the mannequins. It was creepy but also a little funny. They put them in certain poses, for example, they staged a proposal. So that was kinda cute. |
| 15:54 here. Thanks for the recent feedback! I hadn’t heard of Jost but it looks intriguing. |
