what does these meme mean? I like it. |
| Before you invest to much time on this check the flood score of the lots. Builders do a lot to make the house fit on the lot, including changing the land enough to make it a flooding issue. One of those new developments mentioned here has houses listed as a 9 out of 10 for flooding. Spring can be tough on mclean for flooding with all the streams and land development. |
Will send you some photos right now. |
| Hamlet will give you a nice neighborhood feel (and under $2 million) but it is a subdivision. For charming, you need to go to Bethesda, Chevy Chase and some parts of Silver Spring. We need to live on the VA side but I wish we could live there because I like the same kind of neighborhood you’re looking for. |
| Franklin park or any chesterbrook elementary zoned home. Very close to DC and Arlington, excellent schools and location. |
| I absolutely think Franklin Park is a charming neighborhood. Would love to live there. |
| Franklin Park, Langley Forest, and Langley Farm are nice. The rest of McLean is a ****hole. |
Do tell, idiot. |
Aww is someone sad that their neighborhood was insulted? Why don’t you get down on your knees and cry at the sky you little whiner. |
I think the PP is just pointing out that you don't really need to be that crass (and untrue) and that it doesn't sound like you really know too much about McLean in general. Guarantee you live in Springfield or someplace like that. OP's budget doesn't allow for Langley area, nothing under $3.5m right now. I checked earlier in the thread. Well, except PP's house which isn't on the market yet. |
Langley boundaries actually go into parts of Herndon and Reston. I don't know about apartments or condos and don't care to check. Nor do I disagree that MHS does have greater diversity in that sense. I do usually disagree with posters here about the social bubble at Langley and find it to be greatly exaggerated. The majority of kids who live in the more expensive areas (incl my neighborhood, which currently has a buy in of over $3.5m} aren't in public schools. Every single kid on our street goes to private: Georgetown Prep, St Albans, Bullis, Landon, Potomac, Visi, etc. I'm inclined to think that's not an anomaly on our street, but maybe it is. |
This. Langley High is public school and over the years it has become a lot more diverse. It will continue to be as the surrounding area like Tysons are built up. |

Pimmit Hills is in Falls Church, not McLean. |
Actually I split by time between my house in DC and my house in Albemarle County. Not Springfield "or someplace like that", but cute attempt to get all upset that I insulted McLean and then retaliate by insulting Springfield, where I don't even live. You can get down on your knees and cry at the sky as well. Also, I know plenty about McLean considering I grew up in the area, am a third generation Washingtonian, and I watched as McLean transformed from a lovely suburb to a cheaply constructed McMansion hell. |
