Yes.....Another Mask Query 😷

I would politely ask the parents to wear a mask around me. Respect is a two way street, and so is covid transmission!

But do YOU mask around her? It's basically treating her as a virus or second class citizen. You're saying she's the one who you need to be protected against; but you aren't willing to protect her. That's not how I would treat the person with responsibility for my young children.

I love the kids and the job is great.

All except >>> I am required to wear a facial mask the entire ten hrs!
Is this fair??
While I understand that Covid is still a very serious concern, I also think expecting me to wear a facial covering all day long is a bit annoying.
Especially when neither the parents or the kids wear masks at all.
Never!

What should I do??

Are you going to get the vaccine as a childcare worker? Honestly, I wouldn't bother expecting a nanny to wear a mask after being vaccinated.

It seems weird the parents aren't masking. Is it that they're not wearing masks while elsewhere in the house, or even when you're around you?

Did you not know this in the interview stage?

Like was it not brought up til you showed up for your first day?

If you knew and still accepted the job, that’s on you.

If you didn’t and they sprang it on you. Then talk with them. They may change their minds or you all can agree it’s not a good fit and you all move on.

Lesson learned for both parties to make it clear in the interview stage

I’m a nanny and fully vaccinated. Families expect me to wear a mask and that’s fine. I bought one on Amazon that’s basically made of gauze and I can breathe right through it. It’s pretty much just a decoration. You can also buy them on Etsy. I love how they expect you to wear a mask but don’t wear one to protect you. That’s why I’ve started wearing my pretend masks.

Then your asthma is very poorly controlled. Many asthmatics, like myself, wear masks (double, an N-95 and a cloth, in fact) for 10 hour shifts with no issues. Stop with the "medical excuses", they just make you look bad.

Per my doctor, who doesn’t want to put me back on steroids, I’m not to wear any mask for more than 15 minutes. 10-15 years ago, I was in the ER at least once per week, while using several preventive inhalers and a nebulizer, and my rescue inhalers didn’t always work. Now, my asthma is controlled: no preventive medications for more than 5 years, no rescue inhalers unless I’m exposed to my triggers, no exercise-induced attacks. When I need my rescue inhaler, I only need one or two puffs, rather than five not working.

Speak for yourself. When my doctor tells me to do or avoid something, I listen.

You sound pathetic.
