Yeah, the parents I know chose DL for their kids. |
Who in this area is getting full-time DL? I would be happier with that, but my FCPS kids have no instruction on Mondays and dramatically less instruction Tuesday through Friday than they did previously. |
Well aren't you cute... |
No, that's exactly what a plurality means. The REST of everyone else represents the majority. Plurality isn't that hard people. Here's an example: Imagine 35% of parents want distance learning only, 31% want hybrid, and 32% want full in-person. You can frame it as "the option which got the most votes, distance learning" wins--this is the plurality. But if you look at it another way, 63%, or a majority, of parents in this example wanted something else--in this case at least some portion of in-person. |
| Please note that I am not using the real numbers, just an easy example of what plurality means. |
| Since when do we care what the majority of the country wants? The majority of the country are idiots who don't care about education or whether women's labor force participation is sent decades back. |
This is not the case here, though. So seems like your comparisons are a bit of apple to orange. |
Well, we aren't THIS week b/c teachers have the last two days to prepare for concurrent, that is going to suck and dilute DL. Thanks RTS advocates! |
Also true. We shouldn't be making policy based on taking the emotional temperature of idiots. |
I agree. Seems kind of selfish for parents to keep their kids home and try to dilute in-person for the rest of us. |
...that's not a bad point. there are tons online options for parents who want to continue in DL for much longer. the rest of us need school buildings and in-person teachers. it seems like the people who want DL are taking resources from the rest of us. why take up a slot at a local school if they don't need to be AT the local school? |
+1 There needs to be a larger Friendship online school for these parents. |
Honestly, probably they want to keep their precious slot for whenever they feel like the time is right to go back, demanding the rest of us wait on their timeline. I would not be surprised to find out that the majority of angry white ladies who want perpetual DL have a spot at Shephard or something, and want to keep it for themselves even when they're not using it. |
