stationary bike - peleton too expensive

OP, which bike did you end up with? Or anyone else have an alternative bike they recommend?

I am currently debating between the Echelon Connect ($500) or the Schwinn ic4 ($900).

My husband and I love the echelon. It s great! Has everything I need and so easy. I threw it in a barely used hallway outside my laundry room, and then I put a yoga mat holder on the wall next to it and organized or my weights together and now I have an indoor gym for the first time ever.

I have only casually ridden a few times at Fly Wheel, but I have the cheap Echelon and I love it. I bought a magnet from the Pechelon facebook group for like 2 dollars, and it tells me what to convert the resistance that Peloton calls out. I can't imagine spending 2k on a peloton bike now.

Can someone put a link here to the Pechelon facbook group - I don't know why I can't find it...

I got a Keiser M3 because I was used to it from my gym. Very happy.

Can anyone speak to whether the Echelon and the Schwinn bikes have the ability to pivot the video screen out like the Peloton Bike+ does?

I tried this and hated the schwinn. I ended up getting a peloton about a year later. I realize what you said about price and I feel that, but it is indeed a better piece of equipment.

Thanks for sharing this! Can you say what you liked better about the Peloton? I have heard the IC4 and the Echelon are top quality pieces of equipment, so would love to know what you liked better about the Peloton.

Its like the difference between an iPhone and a knockoff. The knockoff does all the things but once you get an iPhone it’s so clearly better.

You could do a stationary bike frame with a regular bike. My husband did some magic with a bike trainer, and then does Zwift. Another friend did something like this and then got the Peloton app.
