| It hasn't been perfect, but now that teachers should be up for their second shot next week (yeay!) quite relieved and glad - my kids are happy to have a break from one another and seem to be more motivated and less depressed. Except now that it's asynchronous Wednesday again and they have nothing to do other than complain about the chores I'm trying to fill their days with. |
+1 |
Why are you filling their days? Why can’t they occupy themselves? Why can’t they be bored? |
omg now we are complaining about kids doing chores? i'm in. ONLY THE WORST PARENTS WOULD ALLOW THEIR KIDS TO DO ALL OF THIS UNSUPERVISED CLEANING. WHY DONT YOU DO IT YOURSELF did i do it right |
Why can't teachers work on Wednesdays? They're barely working all the other days as it is. |
I’m a new poster. The second frequently leaves people with a fever, aches and other flu-like symptoms for 12-24 hours. It makes a ton of sense to vaccinate everyone on the same day and give the next day off. I’m in an industry where our facilities are running 24/7 and we are planning for 24hrs off after each person is vaccinated. |
| My kids are loving it! |
LOL |
Well I’m in person so I’m not sure if I’m barely working the rest of the days. But ok |
| I love Wednesdays. My kids need a break from virtual school. |
| Great to hear about all the happy kids back at school! |
| My kid is still loving it. She comes home and tells me everything and about funny things other kids do and who she talked to etc. The biggest difference is her energy level. She is up early and wants to be there as early as possible (8:10) so she has some play time and reading time in the class. The teachers are still finding their groove but I have no complaints, I know how hard her teacher is working but he is also happy and willing to be back in the classroom so that probably makes a big difference. |
no one said that kids shouldn't do chores. the question was why are you filling your child's days with other things. people are so freaked out that their child will be bored or not have something to do - its absurd. |
Why does everything have to turn into an attack on someone's parenting? Not the PP, but the reason I want things to fill my kid's day is not because I'm afraid that she will be bored, it's because I'm trying to work and I don't want her pestering me for something to do. Yes, I can tell her to figure it out, but it's still an interruption and a distraction. She can entertain herself for long stretches of time, but eventually she's going to come bug me, and the longer I can delay that, the better. |
| Agree with ith PP. lets keep this on topic about how well IPL is going. I see nothing but negative articles in the post. Including Petula Dvroak today saying kids are alone or so lonely in empty classroom. They are picking and choosing their narrative. My kid has friends, play time, and actual live instruction with 8 other kids, 4 days a week in her school. Why don't they report that? |
