Don't say I didn't warn you.

What are you talking about? I’m the PP who moved here a decade ago and that has not been our experience at all.

How Christian is Covenant? Are the families who attend massively churchy or mostly just looking for a good school and religion is nice but somewhat incidental?

Covenant has a history of hiring real credentialed science teachers. That is a strong sign for a Christian school. They were doing this two decades ago. If I lived in C'ville, I'd consider it for sure.

I love Charlottesville. I did my doctorate there and really enjoyed my time at UVA. It's become much, much more crowded and populous since I left, and traffic is worse. But, it's still charming.

That’s basically every private school in the south. If you know people who live outside of major met areas in the south, they likely send their kids to private school? Why? Segregation pure and simple.

OP, also consider Blue Ridge School. It is either 7-day boarding or (5-day boarding + weekends home) and is in NW corner of Albemarle County. Academics are solid. Well run. Notionally, an Episcopal school.
