I'm ahead of the goal so far for 2021, but obviously know it can end at any time. Obv don't play with any money you aren't prepared to lose. Most folks here are more conservative.

1K gain a day with options?
Otherwise it's hard to get without at least $25K per daytrade.

Not recently. Lots of opportunities for larger than 4% daily gains.

But not today, right?

WKHS up 28%, SPCE up 17%, WISH up 7%, GME up 19%, etc. etc.

Yes I know that lol. You got in this morning on those particular stocks did you?

Anyone following WSB better know what they're doing or they're gonna lose a lot of money. WSB is pumping and dumping. The gains on those stocks are temporary and will vanish in an instant.

WKHS was pretty easy to predict after Biden's speech and executive order yesterday.

Unless you are pumping and dumping with them.

This is not me, but I had Workhorse when somebody talked about it here @17. My sister, who know nothing about stocks and just opened up Robinhood, told me to buy Wish, which I did. Today is a good day to buy. Tuesday usually is. I bought Inuv and more PACB. Not married to Inuv and will get rid of it when it goes up (if it does).

The rest of us set it and forget it.

Not true. I do both: my big account is in Fidelity and my small fun account is with Robinhood. I've been having so much fun that my small account is 30% of my big one soon. I never cared for gambling in casinos or even lottery tickets, but this Robinhood is fun. There are so may stocks to buy and most have been going up. I'm Robinhooding....

Then you don't need DCUM's help. Sounds like you are doing well enough. Keep doing what you are doing.

I don't mind new names. Maybe DCUM'er know something I don't know. I did get Novavax from here at $17 and it went all the way to $170 in August. Somebody did say that I was late at $17. Not listening to that guy again.

+1. I also bought Novavax at $17! Someone here made a lot of money from Workhorse.. I also bought some, and the stock is up 30% just today.

All you have to do is make a mad dash for the chairs when the music stops and make sure you're not the one left standing. Not trivial, but there are worse investment strategies, like the dude who posted a thread earlier looking for penny stock recommendations.

Well in general, it's pretty hard.

(I have 90% of my portfolio held LONG) However regarding day trades and/or swing trades I did get in AND OUT of BB today! Can't trust that it will go up, but maybe it will on hype, so I got out with small profit(a mere $34!). Hard to make that quick "$1,000" as the poster above does or claims to do.
(My longs are up very nicely and that includes some leveraged tech etfs).

I'll try again with something else tomorrow.

Now that's a fact.

I'm the 1k PP. I clarified that my goal is not to realize 1k a day, but for ytd gains to be 1k a day. For instance, today is the 26th day of the year. YTD today, I am up 29k in my play account. Some days I have one stock that goes up 1k in a day - hello gamestop. Some days 5 of my holdings go up 200 each. Sometimes I realize the gain and get in something new. Sometimes I ride it up farther and set a stop loss. Some days I'm down 1k. But overall over the portfolio I've chosen and trade in and out of, the goal is 1k a day.

Okay well it depends on the dollar balance of your account (at Jan 1) to determine whether this is a good YTD return or not.

Ugh I see that BB is surging afterhours. Typical I sold.
Believe it or not I had GME bought at $11 in December - but I sold at $15. I heard about the upcoming squeeze due to the massive short level but I had no idea it would be like this. Oh well.
I will be looking for something for tomorrow.

Started last year with about 60k of money in the dumb stocks play account. There is money to be made. It isn't traditional and it's not for everyone. I'm ok that we have different philosophies. I'd like to trade up to a bigger house, and if this helps then I've met the objective. It's more profitable than just letting it accumulate in our bank account anyway.

BB is looking great right now. Jump back in if you can.

I bought a bunch of ETSY. I think it’s a great stock. Was happy that Elon Musk tweeted about it today (just before he posted about GME which I bought least week). BB is looking good and I also like ABML (American Battery Minerals) and II-VI for all the car batteries.
