Taking Bets: Does DCPS go through with it?? Please no other posts

I work with five different schools in DC.

Not a chance. That's my bet.

The answer is "wait until the last minute and scrap it"

To the poster that said DC is kicking butt with the vaccine:

Do tell me how? I have teacher friends in other states already vaccinated. 4,000 DC teachers will not be getting their fist appointments for weeks.

Maybe they'll be vaccinated by term 4.

Booties? Why?

I'm going back too, she likely means the shoe coverings. As a self contained teacher, I will be wearing all the things. Sure hope no kids spit on me this year...

If you have students likely to vomit on you, I can see wearing the booties. Otherwise, you should educate yourself about how Covid is transmitted. Teachers in a regular classroom wearing booties are why schools never opened.

docs is recommending we have more PPE if we are self contained because of diaper changes, helping kids and being more hands on. it’s not about being ignorant it’s about being what we need to be safe when we can’t remain 6 feet away.

Huh? Apparently you don't grasp that MoCo Public Schools are 3X larger than DCPS.

Will be scrapped at the last minute.

DCPS is looking serious and confident at reopening. I think it's all show. If DCPS really wants to open, teachers would be at the front of the vaccine line. They're not. That is enough for me to think term 4 is looking a more likely reopening.

If they scrap their plans again what happens with the CARES classrooms that are currently in place (but scheduled to end February 1st, at least at our school)?

They are at the front. Do you expect teachers ahead of health care workers and the elderly?

Use your brain. They are not at the front. They should quite rightly come after the health care workers and the elderly. I agree with you. All I'm saying is if DCPS really wanted to make reopening safer then the teachers and staff at every school would have had the option to be vaccinated. DCPS is not doing this. It doesn't make sense.

Given how central public education is to the functioning of society and to the well-being and future of the younger generation, teachers should be in line after health care workers but before the elderly.

This is ridiculous. The pandemic has been going on for ten months, people are shopping in stores, everyone wears masks. Anyone saying there is no infrastructure is waiting for what? Private schools are back, universities are back, daycares are back. There is zero reason DCPS can’t go back

Can anyone explain to me how special education services will be provided? I’m talking specialized instruction not related services.
