Exactly! What the hell is APS thinking? I want my kids back in school as much as the next person, but this defies logic.

If it gets them back into the building hallelujah!

why? kids will still be home. this is just teachers teaching from an empty room

After the teachers transition back, the students will transition back.

unless this angers the teachers so much it stops the plan to return

This plan is the most idiotic thing I've ever seen in 2021

ok. I'm in an educators facebook group and they're livid and talking about a sick out. I am simply pointing out that Duran waiting a few more weeks would have made his case stronger to get all students and teachers back and I don't think this is getting him closer

I don't think this is a smart move. He couldn't wait a month to get the staff vaccinated?

I agree. I don't understand pissing off the teachers to teach in an empty classroom pre-vaccine when his case could be so much stronger when he says ok you've all had the chance to be vaccinated, students will be in the building, let's go. it seems like a lot of drama and arguing when a BIT more patience could really force things to go back to (almost) normal

Teachers are NOT happy about this. They would have been on board I think if they had been vaccinated before going back.

I understand why high school and middle school teachers are extra concerned, but from what I’ve heard our kindergarten staff are ready to go. Hopefully we can get early elementary back in Feb even if the secondary plan doesn’t pan out.

This seems like a plan devised in early November. And based on community spread and lack of a high contagious variant maybe that would have been appropriate. But this, now? It’s like Duran and company don’t read the news! Even Fairfax pretty much decided today to scrap their plan and talk again in February! Unless teachers are getting vaccinated at the door the day they arrive this is awful. Why bring them back with no start dates for kids?

I think Duran has achieved the impossible. He's managed to piss off teachers AND a majority of parents with this plan.

Odds that any SB members have guts to stand up for teachers? Any of them?

I bet Reed will be the only one.
