Why jeans with elastic waist for tween boys?

Not in my DCs school and not for many years. I stocked up on jeans one year and noticed older DS wouldn't wear them. When he claimed no one wears jeans anymore I started looking for jeans at every school event and never once saw a pair until a few years later. One or two at middle school.
Makes sense. If I had the option to wear more comfortable or less comfortable clothes I would opt for more.

my 15 year old son will not wear jeans either; he did until he was about 8. now he'll only wear cargo pants. says they are more comfortable. he also hates sweatpants/athletic pants, unlike most of his friends. i suspect he would be fine wearing elastic waist pants if they were comfortable and "easy" to put on but i have not seen any for him. (he's tall and very skinny; have trouble finding anything.)
