Why jeans with elastic waist for tween boys?

My 12 year old son hasn’t worn jeans in 4 years. No boys wear jeans anymore.

Yeah, my son -- and DD as well - gave up jeans or any tight, non leggings pants, at 10.

All you patents with non-jean wearing boys a question. My 11 and 13 year olds never wear jeans except if they are going somewhere slightly dressier like out to dinner or to a celebration like Thanksgiving. Jeans seem dressier than sweats. So what do your boys wear?

Christ, what have we come to as a society if jeans are considered dressy attire?

If my 12-year would wear jeans, he would definitely benefit from an adjustable elastic waistband. He's lanky and wiry.

My 12 year old has never really worn jeans. Used to buy them and they were a waist of money.
I usually try to make sure he has a pair of khakis for occasions on which atbleisure is not appropriate. He prefers those to jeans although still doesn’t like them. Usually when we are going someplace nice it is on vacation so often his dress up wear is khaki shorts and a short sleeve polo or light weight button down with the sleeves folded up.
With Covid, this year I didn’t even bother with the khakis.

Dark wash jeans with nice shoes and a button down shirt is at least better than wearing sweats.

Those are the only jeans my son wears! I much prefer the elastic waist Levi’s too. But Target also sells tons of button ip jeans for boys and girls, you were in the wrong aisle. And basically every kids clothing store sells regular jeans.

Kohl’s sells the regular jeans with a button and zipper for boys. I actually prefer the elastic waist ones for my 5 year old, he has some fine motor delays and I don’t trust him to get a button and zipper undone when he goes to the restroom. But of course, he got 3 pairs of the button/zipper jeans from my IL’s for Christmas ....

They wear khakis, which are more comfortable than jeans.

My thought too! I see little girls in legging type jeans but never, ever see boys or tween age boys in them. Never!
