If the dog is secured in the car with a seat belt harness, it is not actually possible for the dog to approach the letter carrier unless the letter carrier for some unknown reason gets in the car. I don't think the OP needs to do more than that and certainly she doesn't need to be threatened with mace over the letter carrier's unreasonable fear.

The fear is not unreasonable. Dog attacks are on the rise and mail carriers are often victims of these.

The dog was buckled in with a dog seat belt. I told the mail person this after she held that I had to close the doors. I should add we have communal boxes and based on the location there is no need for her to approach our home. Two weeks ago she yelled at me to take him in as we were on a walk on the other side of our private alley. Dog was in mid pee.

Is your dog barking and/or lunging? Or is your dog sitting quietly while buckled? Would make a big difference to me!

F@ck off! Just because you’re so narcissistic that you need a dog to worship you, don’t expect the rest of the world to deal with your mutt.

+1 Our mail carrier was bitten in the leg by a chow whose owner assured the mail carrier that the chow wouldn't bite. Riiight...

Do not let your dog lick random people. Wtf is wrong with you? Glad to know the postal worker is ready to defend themselves. They could have a serious allergy and be harmed by your dogs saliva.

Where did I say I would like my dog lick a rando? I said that is what he would mostly do SINCE he doesn’t bite any thing but food. Please tell me you knew this and you were just trolling.

You literally said your dog would most likely lick the mail person. I am letting you know there are good reasons people do not want to be licked by your dog. I have a severe allergy and I react to dog saliva. I spend a lot of time dodging a**holes like you who think it is ok for your dog to make contact with random people. It isn’t. Just stop it.

Dog was buckled into the seat belt buckle within my car.

human seat belt or proper dog harness (which also serves to protect the dog in the case of an accident)?

It's not mace; it's dog repellant and she is allowed to carry it because 3,000 postal workers a year have been attacked. Here are the rules and regulations. https://about.usps.com/postal-bulletin/2007/html/pb22205/dogkit.3.21.html

In this instance he was peeing with that look he gets - why are you watching me pee.

Mail person was yelling at me. Nobody in the family was having that including the dog.

People don’t want to be licked by an animal that constantly licks its genitals. That’s disgusting.

You should probably avoid porn hub.

And you are why your dog gets pepper sprayed by me in a park where signs are clearly posted that dogs must be leashed. The dog kept approaching me despite me screaming for it to heal so I gave it a good dose of pepper spray. Owner was pissed but he quickly disappeared with his mutt when I screamed that dogs must be restrained like the signs say. I figured I taught both a lesson that day. Restrain your mutts or accept the consequences.

It is absolutely unreasonable to be afraid of an obviously restrained dog which is not particularly close to you. You don’t get to threaten people who are minding their own business and not actually harming you.

I can carry a handgun in most places. I can’t waive it at people.
