An overpriced condo rental listing in DC lists "SPANISH SPEAKING STAFF" as an Amenity? WTF?

A lot of high networth people from Mexico, Central and South America own property in the US. Miami is crawling with them. Spanish speaking staff would be a selling advantage.

It’s funny this wasn’t one of the first answers.

Remember like a week ago when someone said that an overpriced home in Wheaton made sense because it was located in a majority white Jewish neighborhood as opposed to the majority-minority ones? And now, “Spanish-speaking” is not valuable and not an amenity. You guys make me absolutely sick to my stomach. You believe that only whiteness makes a neighborhood valuable. Frankly, I don’t understand why threads like this are even allowed. They should be banned. Forums that allow this type of discussion contribute to racial steering, which is illegal in real estate for a good reason.

I suspect the original outraged OP was speaking from a woke SJW perspective. Spanish speaking staff = implying inferior domestic help who must be Latinos.

Of course, woke warriors brains long since fell out. In their perverse racism they refuse to accept that Spanish speaking people can be rich and snobby too and want Spanish speaking help.

You have to really, really, really want to find any excuse to trash “wokeness” to read the OP and think it came from a SJW perspective.

How is $1,599 overpriced???

At that low* price, that means that Spanish language-dominant immigrants are the target market. Having the maintenance man speak fluent Spanish when your toilet is overflowing or the heater breaks is a huge asset.

* for our not-DC readers following this DC-centric forum on **DC**Urban Moms …. yes, $1600 a month is in fact cheap here. Nobody here cares what your rental market is like in Wichita.

DC isn't, though.

And the small cohort of high net worth people in the District from Latin America also speak fluent English, because they're here for the World Bank, IMF, or the embassies. They haven't fled to Washington in order to hide assets from a dictator or manage their Forest Products business.

Would you be mad if it had a pool but you don’t swim?

How odd that you took the time to post about it.

If you're a renter who is shocked by that price you shouldn't act so uppity.

I paid around $400 a month for the exact same setup right after college in a much more vibrant and exciting version of DC.

DUDE I graduated 15 years ago and was paying $1500 a month. How old are you? Was this in the 80s???
