visiting Claremont Colleges

We have a family member at Claremont McKenna now. Does not like it. Says that socially, it doesn’t feel like college (though has met friends and is on an athletic team) and was very disappointed with the lack of any real planning for parents’ weekend.

DD is at Pitzer and loves it. Fall term being remote was really tough after 1.5 terms on campus. She loves everything about it...classes (mainly Pitzer and Pomona in her case), dorms, friends, fabulous weather, proximity to LA and beaches...everything.

We're in the middle of a pandemic. Should there even BE a parents' weekend? I wouldn't go. Is CMC all online? My SLAC in Los Angeles is online but LA County controls that decision for private colleges in LA County.

These SLACs are $80K a year. UVA is $16K a year for in-state tuition, with room and board that comes out to about $30K a year. Think wisely.

Again, this has nothing to do with the thread topic.

UVA Troll can’t help him/herself. It’s a compulsion, very OCD.

But you'd have to live in the Commonwealth.

+ 1. You may also want to do some research on the earning potential of a UVA STEM grad vs a Harvey Mudd grad. I’ll start you off: https://www.hmc.edu/about-hmc/2019/08/21/harvey-mudd-no-1-in-payscales-college-salary-report/
