So much wrong? So much WIN. Sure masks make sense if their right type. The facial coverings and other forms masks being worn are not protective. There shouldn’t be one size fit all school reopening, considering that there quite a few people who work from home now indefinitely. So where is the virus going to penetrate or infiltrate the schools. Hmmm, the amount of fear is ridiculous so let’s not open schools while private schools are open; while we are at it let’s shutdown outdoor school sports. Good news is that the parents who have resources are already mobilizing to form weekend sport leagues. |
Yes, god forbid your brat can’t play golf this winter. |
I love Duran. He has an impossible job and I think he is clear, communicative and fair. The numbers do not support going back to school. It sucks but it’s true. It doesn’t matter who was in charge right now- he/she would be getting flamed no matter what. Arlington parents are many things- but patient and understanding are not among them! |
No its not true about the numbers. What is the criteria for saying the numbers are too significant for going back to school? APS is making up its own criteria. It says it is using CDC and VDH criteria, it is using their criteria but not their benchmarks. Both groups would have special ed and K-3rd in person right now. I am not patient or understanding when I see my children failing and giving up and the superintendent shrugging his shoulders and denying the problem. |
112,000 virus cases per day in this country. But Open Schools Now. Good lord. Thank god Dr. Duran is in charge and not the APE crowd. Unbelievable. |
+1 |
This is a completely irrelevant figure for reopening schools in our area. |
Another Arlington parent who loves Duran. |
Ok 112,000 are not in our area!!! Our cases and hospital admission rates are low for weeks. Now Braband is opening their schools on Nov 30. All the Catholic schools in Arlington are already open. Just plain stupidity to quote national numbers to keep schools closed. |
He is opening schools DURING the holiday season? That is majorly fcked up. |
I like Duran, too. But I also want my kids in school. I'm frustrated that my nieces and nephews and friends' kids in areas with FAR higher case counts are getting in-person instruction while mine are stuck at home. And I'm mad about cancelling HS sports, which was one of the only things to look forward to. Catholic school has been open here for 2 months now and is going great. Get it together, APS. Ours kids are missing out. |
Stop. There’s no secret deal. |
I’m a fan of Dr. Duran. |
+1000 So glad we have an adult in charge. |
Yup and O'Connell just had to close because of cases. |
