I don't know about creepy. but it is disappointing. Especially if they don't even come out for a practice or two. On the other hand...as parents, let's be honest: How often have we watched a game and thought, "Man, we would totally be winning if it wasn't for Player A!" So then Player A gets replaced with a better player and we win...Yay, right? As long as our kid isn't Player A. |
Thats a good point and made me think about that scenario. Our team has a small roster already with a couple new travel players (meaning not have played travel before) and they are still adjusting to the pace of the games etc. I was actually going to recommend to get 1-2 guest players in our next tournament to have a deeper bench but I assume if they are quality players would it decrease the playing time even more for those still improving? I wonder what one of those parents would think. |
Because the group of kids who were the original team were responsible for the team advancing to the finals. They played and won those games. And then in the finals, to bench those kids and bring in an entire new set of kids to guarantee the win, well that not only is disgusting, it's unethical and cheating. |
They aren't U9 anymore, that was a few years ago. We recognize several of those same kids every year. They play sometimes for Bethesda, sometimes for other Maryland teams. For futsal, they go by the name soccer misfits. They're very good. But they need to be their own regular team (which they are sort of for futsal), not to be used by coaches and clubs to be brought it for tournament finals (I am not talking one guest player, I am talking 5-9 guest players, they're like a guest team). I also wonder re their age, some have always looked much older. |
https://certifiedonlinedoc.com/services/birthcertificate/ Think it's about $50. |
It’s not cheating if they were allowed to roster 6 guest players. It is sad for the kids who had to sit out while they were replaced by better starters. It is frustrating for the losing team to see new better players. Don’t call it cheating unless it was a clear violation of the rules. |
And the "coach" says: ...Oh but if the player helps the team win, then their gs points are higher, then they get into better tournaments, and that helps the whole team. And mom/dad should say: You're fired. We hired you to teach our kids soccer not pretend you're in the premier league. And by the way, did that kid pay anything towards the tournament entry fee? |
You can put all the liptstick you want on a pig, it's still a pig. |
| It’s usually the struggling team$ that need those gs points or looking to fill rosters to the max or more. Once you’re in, it’ll be your DC sitting while guest players take away their minutes. |
+10000000000000 |
Or the coach says ...oh guests needed in case someone is sick |
+1 Last year we were losing to a team that I later found out was guesting players from multiple levels up all season. We beat them when the guest players couldn't play. Very disgusting and sad for our team whos egos were taking a hit, never realizing they were playing kids not in their bracket. |
Doubtful- they can’t afford for the current players to get pissed and leave |
Which hardly ever happens. What about the benched kids, aren’t they supposed to take over the sick player? NOPE per the creepy coach. |
| Guest players should never start ahead if registered players. |
