It happens and it is CREEPY when the coach does not communicate it to parents and players. The guest player shows up in the tournament and ends up more time than other players.  What a heck is in the coach brain? It is disrespectful to the whole team and families.[/quote]

I don't know about creepy. but it is disappointing. Especially if they don't even come out for a practice or two.

On the other hand...as parents, let's be honest:

How often have we watched a game and thought, "Man, we would totally be winning if it wasn't for Player A!" So then Player A gets replaced with a better player and we win...Yay, right? As long as our kid isn't Player A.[/quote]

Thats a good point and made me think about that scenario.  Our team has a small roster already with a couple new travel players (meaning not have played travel before) and they are still adjusting to the pace of the games etc.  I was actually going to recommend to get 1-2 guest players in our next tournament to have a deeper bench but I assume if they are quality players would it decrease the playing time even more for those still improving?  I wonder what one of those parents would think.
