We switched to vegetable trays for snacks. If you’re hungry, you’ll eat it. If not, you won’t.

We went to the store together and picked out what they wanted to try. Then we cut them up together, in different shapes (cucumber circles vs spears) and put 3 dips in ramekins: hummus, ranch, and sour cream dip.

Then we made a little chart and tried them all! I found what combos they liked. And now I always have a little Tupperware in the fridge ready to go with that snack: cucumber spears and hummus or whatever.

So you’re saying they get two snacks a day... like everyone else’s kids here.

PP here. I didn’t read all the replies, honestly.

We don’t bring snacks to the park, and my kids don’t walk around with a snack, and we don’t snack in the car.
On school days they bring a snack, and have one when they get home (vegetable tray).
The weekends, they are offered the vegetable tray and dip.

I always blanch the cauliflower, broccoli, beans, snow peas etc first in salted water before eating it with dipping sauce.

Dried apricots and cherry tomatoes (sliced in half because my kids are little) are big hits around here. We also keep apples and applesauce pouches around. Cut up strawberries too.

We are also not averse to occasional “evil snacks” like pirate’s booty or cheddar bunnies or pretzels. I am an “everything in moderation” person. But the kids must eat a veggie or a fruit snack first, or it’s a no go.

Snacks in our house are basically leftovers! Mainly for weekends when non-school hours are in effect.

A sliced apple or celery/peanut butter after school. Not enough to spoil the appetite of dinner at 6.

And no , no eating at the park unless it is a family picnic.

Banana, oranges, apples, carrots. My kids eat fruits for snacks.
