Agree. Twenty/thirty years from now they’ll be as embarrassed as we are now about the things we did as teenagers.

This just reminded me of a dare I actually did in high school. We always used to get stoned and then dare each other to go to a store and “talk like we were dogs” (i.e, conversational barking). Like just barking but in a conversational way, ordering off a menu, etc. The Tom Green show was really big at the time we just thought we were SO funny. I can’t even imagine how I worked up the nerve to do that SEVERAL times. Makes me cringe. Seems like a lifetime ago.

This does not come up for us much either (Catholic school) YET. But 2 years ago at sleepover camp this was a discussion among the girls. Given their age I was shocked. I remind my kids and God made you the way you are - and it is okay to be you (whatever this is or turns out to be). This is true for your DF also. There have always been people across the spectrum, and I am glad if in the world today they find greater acceptance to be who they are. I am not sure I go as far in understanding the need have new pronouns or names at the start of puberty, but I am sure it is hard for many parents to figure out the best way to handle. If it ever comes our way I hope to handle with grace and patience instead of judgement.
