Weight after having kids - any hope?

Anonymous
I was able to get back to my pre-baby weight and shape pretty easily after gaining 50 lbs each with two kids. Being more strict about carb intake was a big help though frankly when looking at my mom I think I may mostly have just gotten lucky with genes. What does your mom look like OP?

OP here - my birth mom is small (like 3-4" shorter than me) and still pretty thin. But she lives in a different country from me and eats a totally different diet.

My sister however was able to bounce back quickly after 2 kids and is still very slim (5'7" and 130ish).

I was 36 after having my 3rd kid and hung onto about 20 unwanted pounds for a year (breastfed for 7 months). When DS was a year I started intermittent fasting, reduced carbs, and tried to cut alcohol and lost 23 pounds. That was 4 years ago and I’ve gained 10 of those pounds Back, but as if this week I’m back on the low carb train (have maintained IF).

IF is not a diet. Be warned about that. For most people IF is an excuse to overeat when you do eat. You will, at best, maintain your weight with IF. You lose weight by eating fewer calories. Your baby is 7 months old. I would wait till 1 year old and just watch your weight now so you don't gain more.
