How are you preparing for Tuesday Night's storm?

Where's the pet friendly hotel?? I need to buy a phone charger for my I-phone and fill my gas tank. We even lost landline last time. This time I will also fill my bathtubs with water before the power goes out. We are on well water (Great Falls) and when the power goes out, no running water, no operating toilets, etc. Yuck.

The prospect of repeating that tomorrow or Wednesday literally makes me sick to my stomach. I wish I could figure out anything I could do to make it easier this time around. Honestly if you keep your power, consider yourself so lucky. My kids drive me crazy too, but it's a zillion times easier in your own house...

We lost power too, and I have a pit in my stomach thinking about tomorrow.

Yes, me too. Moving the kid, dog, our stuff, is too much to think about. I'm hoping this is more of a powder snow rather than a wet snow. We live in the Ft. Hunt area where there were many outages due to downed trees.

It is still in effect from what I can see.

Remember way back when -- what was it, Thursday? When everyone was making fun of people for worrying that their power was going to go out, and for stocking up like crazy at the grocery store?

My mom was able to get so she came and took me grocery shopping and to the liquor store today. Got back in time to see the plows arriving and I did a little dance. I'm not even gonna try to dig the car out; I found someone on craigslist and they'll be here well before the snow. This time I gonna park my car in a public lot so that I wont have to deal with it again.

The one thing I forgot was that I wanted to try to find a sled for the kids. We've been using the lid to the laundry basket but that's murder on my back. I want one with reins on it.

To the PP in the Fort Hunt area -- if you are looking for a place to stay in Alexandria, there is a Marriott Residence on Duke Street (a block from Whole Foods) that takes pets. There is some sort of pet fee, but it seems you can bring the doggie. As an aside, if you are pregnant with a boy and have two-year old DS with a big smile, and if you lost power yesterday morning trough early this morning, I think I may be your friend/neighbor!

I'm so jealous of all of you who went out!! the plow still hasn't come to our house so looks like we might be in the house from psat fri through at least weds

Just to put it in perspective

So, you're saying we can stay here and shiver or we can go to Mexico with Dennis Quaid and Jake Gyllenahall??? Cancun, here I come!

I really want to do a load of laundry, but I'm afraid that all the snow over the dryer vent means its unsafe to use it.

I am finally able to take my sick child to the doctor! She has had a sore throat since last Thursday night and by Sat I was beginning to think it was strep. She doesn't usually get a fever with strep but she has gotten scarlet fever before and I really don't want to risk it.

I will also do a little shopping and pick up a couple of movies from the Blockbuster movie box at the grocery.
