Styles should adjust to the players you have, until you have the players to fit your style. A good coach knows how to implement multiple styles and hybrids. Goes for all team sports. Long and short for Barca is that they are simply too old.

Or talent is selected to fit a style. You need to have a critical mass of a type of player to play any style well. You can't just grab talent and figure out a style that fits everyone.
