Now THAT was a dumb name change. |
|
Name changes don’t actually help anyone on the Indian Reservations. Doubt they have ever been on an actual reservation. I spent 4 weeks on one rebuilding a school. Trust me when i say the friends that I met and worked along side could careless bout the Redskins of DC.
So go on, those that are perpetually offended, feel better about yourself as you go about your day to day. But maybe actually spend 5 min how to actually help the people on our reservations out, or you actually are all words and no real action. |
i would so love to meet you in real life and introduce you to my native american friends, who live in the DMV, who are offended. Just because you did some charity work on an indian reservation, when? 25 years ago?? Your singular experience doesn't make you an expert on what real people are experiencing. Too bad - your beloved football team is getting renamed. Get over it. |
Gosh you are so assuming. Typical. I neversaid I was a fan of the team, only that name changes don't actually help the people on the reservations. Based on my experience (yes, real experience and it was 5 years ago), this is a hollow move and my friends would be far better off if the people who fought for this hollow movement spent far more time actually fighting to help improve their lives. Lastly, we are all informed by what we have experienced. It is what fills our opinions. You have "friends in the DMV who are Native Americans" and they have informed your pov. Just like I have my 4 week experience on an actual reservation with people who live there. I never said I was an expert; only relaying how to actually help. But hey...as mentioned above...go ahead and feel good about yourself and your friends feeling better. I bet it feels great to tell your friends about your experience in "activism"...I will stick with actually helping the Natives improve their lives. Just so dumb...it is like you are 12 with your arguments and assumptions. |
