OP, if you don't want to be the one to "rat out" the party officially, post the school or organization that is hosting the event and where and one of us can call the local authorities and mention that the scheduled event is advertised as larger than the current state regulations and let them investigate. Then your name is not associated with the call.

Absolutely not. Period.
You are right. There is no doubt. STick to your guns. This will fade in memory. But your family will stay safe. |
Can you email them anonymously? |

OP here... I’m going to call the school and ask a few “questions “ and see how they respond. No way will my child be going and I appreciate everyone’s help in making me feel like I’m not insane for saying no. I just feel bad for him of course, but his older sister told me she would like to do something special with him that day to help soften the blow. I also might consider letting him
Get that pet hamster he’s been wanting lol . |

You are not a bad guy here OP.
I would say that you are the only smart one. I cannot believe people are still setting up food buffets in this pandemic. 🤦🏻♀️ SMH 🤦🏻♂️ |

I’m shocked this is happening. So incredibly irresponsible.
Show your child a video or an article about how bad Covid can be. Hopefully they are grateful you care so much. |
| I would anonymously call it in to the local news and get the whole thing shut down. The kids never need to know what happened. |
| I know someone who did this result: 50% teens infected, many parents and siblings as well. Not worth it to me but I guess you have to be the bad guy. |

There is no way that I would allow this. But, I have eased up on what I allow my kids to do. In the beginning, we were strictly quarantining. But, over the past two months, we have ventured out under circumstances that we've decided we were ok with. For example, my youngest is going to an outdoor camp for a couple of hours a day that has set rules and guidelines consistent with reasonable safety standards. My teen got a job. We've gone out to eat a few times at off hours where there is outdoor seating.
If you are the lone hold out again, maybe you want to look at loosening up in some other ways. But there is no way on earth that I would allow this. |
| OP, not only would I not allow this, I would not allow my DS to socialize (even outside!) with any kids who attended the event for at least 2 weeks. Stay strong! |
| I wouldn't do this. |
| Let us know how your phone call to the school went... |
| Absolutely not! There was a house party in MI where 60+ people have gotten it... |
| I am out and about doing a lot of things, but this is too much. And likely not even legal in N.J. |
