If that's correct, then OP, frankly I would rat this party out to whatever state or local authority can stop it. Immediately. Do it because shutting this insane idea down is for the public good. It's great that you are strong and not letting your son attend, but for your whole area's public health -- tell the authorities. This is the only way we are going to get fools like the organizers of this virus-fest to stop. I don't care if some here would say, don't interfere. If we don't start interfering, the pandemic goes on and on. Public health is a real thing and if this party happens, there will be infections and they'll spread outward from 150 attendees many times over. |
| No. Point to the surge in on-campus cases amongst the young from summer Greek parties. Berkeley, U of Washington, UNC, etc |
+1. This should not be happening period. If it does go forward, you are right to not let your kid go. But it will suck for them even more because they won’t really be able to see their friends attending after this either. |
| Fellow NJ resident here. You are being smart. Do not let your child go to this party! I'm not going to an indoor gathering anytime soon either. |
| No way would I attend!! |
|
OP this is a hard no.
No masks completely unacceptable. Assuming this is a private school, my kids would be removed, because if they are doing something this dumb, why would I want my kid educated there. |
So OP's party isn't legal? |
|
Oh hell no.
We're going to hear about this outbreak, National News the following week. |
| I'm mostly middle of the road for Covid restrictions, but this is a Corona party in the making. Also, pretty sure it's not legal in NJ. Large group, inside, no masks, food, teenagers... so dumb. |
| I’d also eat them out to the town’s board of health. There’s no way they’d be under the state’s requirements for inside gatherings. |
| I'm not strict on quarantining; my 16 yo works outside of the home but it's a small group (fewer than 10 people present) and there are strict protocols for hand sanitizing, temperature checks, masks and social distancing. This formal sounds like an outbreak waiting to happen, and against state policy to boot. I definitely wouldn't let my kid go (and wouldn't feel one bit bad about saying no!), and as non-confrontational as I am this is something I might even speak up about to the sponsors and authorities. |
| Is this associated with his school? If so you could call the principal or school board because they don't want headlines that a spring formal associated with XYZ High School is linked to an outbreak. |
lol - awesome typo. I, too, would RAT them out. Shut this down. Its a superspreading event in the making. |
| Cute. I’ll watch for it on the news |
| I let my kids to A LOT and we are very liberal and I didn't even have to think this one over. ITS A NO FROM ME DAWG |
