These are all pretty popular in DC/UmC neighborhoods.

Ruby is an animals name.

Elsie is an adorable baby/kid name, but I don’t think it suits an adult at all.

How can you think Ruby is an animal’s name when Elsie is the ultimate cow’s name??

I've loved Ruby ever since Rod Stewart named his daughter that. Much better than Jade.

These are kind of all over the map:

Ruby: Very trendy right now.

Samantha: Very trendy 25 years ago.

Ruth: I don't like the name, but Ruthie is a very cute nickname. Maybe best for a middle name.

Cora- nn Coco: I like Cora a lot. But it's sweet all on its own ... I wouldn't want to force Coco.

Cicely or Cecilia: I like both of these a lot.

Matilda: Trying a little too hard to be hip.

Martha: Ditto. Some girls can carry it off, or can pull off Marti as a nickname, but it's a tough name to like.

Elsie: I like it.

Harriet: I dislike it. Sorry.

BEST ONES: Cora, Cecelia, Matilda (Tilly)

Ruby - popular among hipster parent crowd, it's cute but it's going to feel very "of a certain moment in time" in a few years

Samantha - feels dated

Ruth - i love grandma names, but this one might be too clunky even for me

Cora- nn Coco - adore it, i think it's exactly the right note you are trying to hit, classic not overwhelmingly popular fun nickname

Cicely or Cecilia - like in the same way I like Cora, prefer Cecilia (Cece is fun)

Matilda - love with the nickname Tilly

Martha - is your family cool enough to pull it off? will your kid be? this sort of feels like Mallory to me, can swing clunky or cool

Elsie - maybe as a nickname for something longer so she has options?

Harriet - there's grandma names and there's unattractive names, can't get past the "hairy" but I'd also never name my kid "Harry"

Agree in full!!! I really like all of these names. Matilda, Tilly, is my top. Love Cecily or cecelia
