This is basically what's wrong with America. People being unable to distinguish between wrongs that harm the community, and things that they dislike because they inconvenience them or disappoint them on a personal level. (But I waaant to be able to set off fireworks wherever I want! And drive my super big gas-guzzling car wherever I want for as cheap as possible! And buy a gun with absolutely no waiting and then bring it with me everywhere!!! It's in the Constitution that I'm entitled to be happy!). |
| I love fireworks!! |
| I love fireworks too! I’m a dem, but not interested in living in a staid world without any risk or danger. |
| Why is driving legal? |
I’m sorry you hate our country. Fortunately, you’re not required to stay here. Good luck in your search. |
Donald! You’re missing your favorite Fox morning show! Scat! |
OMG!!! That is the FUNNIEST thing I’ve ever read here! You should be a writer for Tosh or doing stand up! How do you not keep everyone around you from constantly falling down laughing??? |
Fireworks harm the community? Really? On rare (very rare) occasions they harm an individual. Mostly they uplift the community. My guess is that if you’re against fireworks you live on the fringe of true community as a busy body trying to control others’ lives. Let’s go thru your other examples. Big gas guzzler. Yes that contributes to pollution. It also ends up employing those that make and sell those cars. So helps some community while hurts overall health of environment. This can be solved by not making or selling gas guzzlers and instead making electric or hybrid trucks/cars. But as long as they’re offerred and marketed in an appealing way, they will be bought. Govt. has done very little to motivate car makers and national infrastructure to change due to PAC influence from O&G industry. Both Dems and Pubs. Buy a gun. Doesn’t hurt a community in 99.99% of cases. It is an individual and private choice. Yes, it has the potential to be used by a crazy person to hurt a community that typically has ignored and disaffected that person. I’d say the community is more at fault than the tool and that almost all gun buyers aren’t looking to shoot up the local school, church, or public space and that waiting periods and BG checks would be ineffective in preventing mass shootings and/or other, more personal shootings. Take the drug, crime related shootings. The community (lack of hope/respect/economy)itself sets the stage and cultivates those shootings and many of those weapons were acquired illegally in the first place. |

I’m more than willing to accept the death of one idiot misusing bootleg homemade fireworks for the privilege of my enjoying safe, store-bought fireworks. Comparing the two is like saying your Honda Civic needs to be banned because someone was killed when he crashed a Formula 1 race car at the Indy 500. Total cognitive disconnect. |
| I like them |
DC man. Not DC community. You just proved my point, simpleton. |
Racist |
Ha! You equate low class to a particular race by calling the PP racist. Pot, meet kettle. |
