Honestly we need black women in leadership. They are the backbone of this country, if you want to admit it or not. I will vote for her a million times before another old, white establishment man.

As a black woman, I don't admit it. I think immigrants and minorities are the backbone of this country - especially, women. But sure, throw your vote away without at least holding her responsible for her ideas like any other elected official who needs your vote.

She’s running to improve her name recognition. She’s aiming for an eventual House or Senate seat.

She might raise her profile by doing this in another state. I don't think Virginia voters really go in large numbers for candidates who primarily emphasize their gender, race, and childhood circumstances. It's like she's demanding the position because of her identity, and not working for it because of her qualifications. Maybe she can get a House seat out of it, maybe not.
