Women and their work have been intrinsically undervalued for all of history. The idea of parity is new, and will take decades to correct. I don’t blame any women for becoming infuriated at the injustice of that.

That has nothing to do with this case. They were a bunch of whiny brats trying to renegotiate their contracts through the media with deceitful tactics. Such a nasty, entitled lot.

When did you last call a man a whiny brat? Are men ever whiny brats?

If I told you, you wouldn't believe me anyway.

Troll.

They bring home gold medals.

They have won the World Cup four times.

The men never won any big tournaments.

Are you talking about the US? The US men’s team is terrible.

Men's soccer is infinitely harder. Compared to the rest of the world, there is way more investment in women's soccer in the US. There is way less investment in men's soccer in the US compared to the rest of the world. The rest of the world simply doesn't care about women's soccer as much as they do for men's. Soccer in the US just isn't popular, while people are fanatical about men's soccer leagues elsewhere.

This is dumb. Should these World Cup winners get paid more as well?

In your opinion. It's not.

The men suck. The women are good.

The women have zillions of fans and the number of them continues to grow.

The men? Eh. Who watches them. Anyone?

NP. You simply don't understand how money is made in soccer. More people watch men's soccer. That is a fact. Nobody wants to watch inferior athletes, which is why the WNBA is a league that nobody cares about.

No.

They want more pay due to their excellence. The men suck eggs and make more money.

Then maybe they should learn to negotiate the contract they want, instead of complaining after the fact.

The ELITE women's team lost to 14 year old boys!! Now that's embarassing!

The argument that the women’s team is better than the men’s is totally dumb. Yes they won some world cups, but not men’s world cups. If the men’s team played in the women’s tournament they would win it every time, the women wouldn’t get close to qualifying in the reverse scenario.

The question of pay should depend on income generated by the teams. I don’t really know but I get the impression the women’s team is pretty popular and gets great ratings, so maybe the money is there. If so they should get it, but they need to learn how to negotiate. The challenge for them is to make money outside of the international game. I don’t think there’s much interest once you remove the nationalism.

Not the pp but women soccer in the US is an event like the Olympics. People are not soccer fans or women soccer fans. The only time people tune in is during World Cup games. Outside the US they can’t even sell out the stadiums and the tv share in non existent. Seriously even in the US people just do not care. Went to a NWSL game with 6 World Cup starters on the field. The only one people in the stands recognized and got excited about was the one with pink hair. Not because she is a great soccer player(she is not) but because she has pink hair and markets herself well.

Especially if you are from UMP, belong to a fraternity and play a college sport.

STFU MAGAT and go back to supporting your fat husband and illiterate children. Leave the critical thinking for the rest of us.

NO. How typical. Can't argue, so name call with all the hatefulness you can muster.

You are so right. Because women are not as big and strong as men, we should end women’s sports.

How dumb.

American men can’t win a game and they are still paid well.
